Bittersweet Day

Today is such a bittersweet day for our family. Exactly one year ago today, my sweet grandmother, 'Memaw' passed away. It was also the day we found out we were pregnant with our little Ella Grace.

My Memaw was such an influence to me and the whole family. She had such a sweet spirit about her. She also had such a servants heart. She lived to serve my Papaw and our family. I remember vividly the week leading up to her passing. She had been in the hospital for a few days and Paul and I got to go visit that Sunday. We spent the whole day with her just talking. She kept telling us how wonderful our whole family was. She just loved everyone so much. It was a sad day, but a fun day of sharing time with my Memaw. They went home from the hospital on Tuesday, the same day my aunt flew in. Paul and I drove her to meet my mom 1/2 way. Within an hour of my aunt getting there, my Memaw went to be with the Lord. My mom, aunt, and Papaw were in the room with her praying as she went to heaven. It was a little after one in the morning.

That day was a hard one to say the least, but I knew she was in a better place sitting with Jesus and walking the streets of gold. That evening after church I wasn't feeling really well, so i decided to take a pregnancy test.....much to my surprise, it was positive. We were so happy and sad at the same time. But when we told the family, they were all so happy...with death comes new life. We decided right then and there, if we were to have a little girl, she would be Ella after my Memaw (Lou Ella).

So, as you can see, today is a very bittersweet day for our family. But we have a sweet little girl to live on as a legacy of her great-grandmother.

What a sweet and thoughtful way you celebrated my mother's death with new life in Ella her namesake.
Thank you for all your thoughts and kindest memories. Ella is a blessing to us all and I really needed and enjoyed her on Jan. 31.
Yes, it was a bittersweet day.
I love you all,
MOM
