Bittersweet Day

Today is such a bittersweet day for our family. Exactly one year ago today, my sweet grandmother, 'Memaw' passed away. It was also the day we found out we were pregnant with our little Ella Grace.

My Memaw was such an influence to me and the whole family. She had such a sweet spirit about her. She also had such a servants heart. She lived to serve my Papaw and our family. I remember vividly the week leading up to her passing. She had been in the hospital for a few days and Paul and I got to go visit that Sunday. We spent the whole day with her just talking. She kept telling us how wonderful our whole family was. She just loved everyone so much. It was a sad day, but a fun day of sharing time with my Memaw. They went home from the hospital on Tuesday, the same day my aunt flew in. Paul and I drove her to meet my mom 1/2 way. Within an hour of my aunt getting there, my Memaw went to be with the Lord. My mom, aunt, and Papaw were in the room with her praying as she went to heaven. It was a little after one in the morning.

That day was a hard one to say the least, but I knew she was in a better place sitting with Jesus and walking the streets of gold. That evening after church I wasn't feeling really well, so i decided to take a pregnancy test.....much to my surprise, it was positive. We were so happy and sad at the same time. But when we told the family, they were all so happy...with death comes new life. We decided right then and there, if we were to have a little girl, she would be Ella after my Memaw (Lou Ella).

So, as you can see, today is a very bittersweet day for our family. But we have a sweet little girl to live on as a legacy of her great-grandmother.

More Birthday?!?!?!

Every year for my birthday, my mom and I go to the spa and go shopping. This year we tried the 7th Street Villa Day Spa. It is brand new. I got a massage and mom got a facial. It was so relaxing. Then, we made our way to Southlake to the Chessecake Factory. Yum, yum!! We split lunch and then a piece of chocolate cheesecake. It was sooooo good.
Then it was time to shop. We mainly shopped for ourselves, but we had to stop by Janie & Jacks really quick to look at their sale rack. Mom got some clothes for Ella and Hudson for Valentine's Day.
Our last stop was NY & Company- one of my favs. I got some fun new spring clothes. I was excited. Next year we need to change our order, Shopping, Eat, Massage. It is hard to shop for clothes after eating a big meal at the Cheesecake Factory.
Hudson topped off the evening. I was in Ella's room hanging up her clothes (trying to be a good housewife and mom) when Hudson came around the corner with water all down the front of this outfit. I walked into the kitchen and there was water all over the floor. Hudson had helped himself to the water from the fridge. I was shocked, but it was hysterical. I tired really hard not to laugh at him. He always keeps me on my toes.
Now my birthday week is over. It was wonderful and I wanted to thank everyone who made it so special!!

Cute & Precious

We had a fun weekend. We celebrated my birthday and went shopping for the kids!! It is so much more fun to shop for the kids than for ourselves. We found tons of good deals from Babies R Us, Baby Gap, Gymboree, Macy's and Janie & Jack. It was so much fun!!
Ella was able to wear one of her new outfits on Sunday. As someof you know, we are late every Sunday to church. This week was especially bad. Paul and I totally forgot the kids chior was singing and we were suppose to be there at 8. We rolled in about 9:40 to Bible Fellowship (which starts at 9) and realized we were suppose to be there at 8. Oooops. But here are a few pics of our Sunday morning............... cartoons, milk, & cherrios while mommy and daddy are getting ready and sweet kisses for our sister.

Hudson is so precious and I am not just saying that because he is my son....well, maybe. He got some new pj's for Christmas that have a drop bottom on them. He is so cute running around in them. Hudson decided he wanted Dixie to sleep with him. So, we tucked in both of them in and cracked the door. Dixie made it about a minute before she jumped down and ran out. Hudson started crying. Dixie just isn't ready so sleep in there!!
We have birthday week at our house. It all started on Tuesday with a shopping trip with Trina- one of my co-workers and a wonderful friend who is my new personal shopper. We went to NY & Company....one of my favs. I was able to get a cute sweater and 2 new pairs of pants. So fun to shop!! Then on my actual birthday, my wonderful teammates ordered Jason's Deli and made birthday cake. My students at school my kids made me feel so special....constantly wishing me Happy Birthday or singing to me. They are such a sweet group of kids (for the most part).
That night we went to dinner at SaltGrass with my dad since my mom was out of town. Hudson was a little under the weather, the benefit of that was he went to sleep at 7 pm. Paul and I got to spend some time just hanging out and talking....hard to do with 2 small children.
Friday night, the Lasiters has us over for dinner. Marci is a really great cook. It is so fun to watch the boys play...we even put them in the bath together. Hudson did not like it, but JD loved it. We had a good time together.
Saturday night we did my birthday with my family. We got a babysitter so we could actually enjoy dinner and not entertain a 2 year old through dinner. We went shopping at Northpark and found tons of great deals. I love sales!! We ate dinner at Maggiano's....family style. It was a fun experience. The food was so amazing!! We had a great time with the fam. We ended the night back at our house with birthday cake and presents. Hudson and Ella were excited to see the family. We enjoyed our traditional red velvet cake from Red Oven, and cheesecake, chocolate cake, and tiramisu from Maggiano's. YUMMY, YUMMY!!! We had a great time and I have a wonderful birthday!! Thank you for everyone who made it so special!!

Happy last year in my 20's. Hudson & Ella hanging out!!

Our Little, Big Boy

Just a quick Hudy story.
So yesterday, we put Hudson down for his nap in his room. He went unwillingly as usual, but was fine after a minute or two. Then Ella and I went to lay down in my room for a Sunday afternoon nap. After a few minutes passed, I heard Hudson in the living room. He had climbed out of his big boy bed, opened his door and decided he wasn't taking a nap. So, we got up and played about 30 more minutes and started nap time all over again. This time he was tired and stayed in bed.
Oh, but the story doesn't end there. About 2:00 in the morning, I heard a door open. I told Paul, "Hudson just opened his door." Paul met him at our door and Hudson just waved and said, "Hi, Dad!!" Paul had to put him back in bed and told him it wasn't time to get up just yet. Luckily, he went back to sleep.
Then at 6:30, we hear our door open and Hudson's little head popped out, he waved a little wave and said Hi!!! We just laughed because he is so precious. It really made my day!! I just kept remembering his little head peeking around the corner and his big smile...it makes my heart melt.
